Liberty One, LLC The Liberty is a supportive living facility currently in pre-development on the North Lawndale Campus and will be designed specifically for homeless veterans. It will be comprised of 36 studio apartments, each with their own kitchen and bath. The number of homeless veterans in Chicago is currently estimated at more than 18,000 and that number will rise significantly when veterans return from Iraq and Afghanistan. 45% of veterans suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and 50% have substance abuse problems. National studies have shown that a combination of supportive services and job training is the most successful approach for homeless veterans. The Liberty is an important step in helping veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country to rebuild their lives.
