HIV/AIDS COmmunity

Over the past 17 years, the African American community in Chicago, especially the impoverished North Lawndale neighborhood, has been hit the hardest by HIV/AIDS. In recent years, EdgeAlliance has shifted its focus to accomodate the changing face of HIV/AIDS, specifically single mothers and their children.

Housing stability is the first and most crucial step in treating those with HIV/AIDS. By providing our clients with permanent supportive housing they are able to take their medications effectively and shift their focus from basic survival to treating their specific health issues and achieving long-term independence.

OUR CAMPUS

Located in the heart of North Lawndale, Sawyer Gardens, Inc., Garden View, LLC, The Phoenix House, LLC, and AIDSCare Progressive Services, LLC currently provide permanent housing and life progress services to more than 125 women, children, and men living with HIV/AIDS and below the poverty line. These Alliance Members provide clean, affordable permanent housing and life progress services in a campus-like environment. They have transformed the lives of those they serve and, in the process, have begun to transform the North Lawndale community.
